Editor in Chief
He has been working in the fields of autonomy and conflict resolution both as a researcher and a practitioner, and has been a member of the Board as well as the Research Council of the Åland Islands Peace Institute since its start.
Mikael Wigell holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and is Senior Research Fellow within the Global Security research programme at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs. Since 2011, Wigell is also a member of the Research Council of the Åland Islands Peace Institute.
Gunilla Herolf holds a PhD from Stockholm University. Herolf has been a researcher at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs and at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). She has been the Chair of the Research Council of Åland Islands Peace Institute since 2015. Her research focus is on European integration and European security cooperation.
Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark
Sia Spiliopoulou Åkermark is Associate Professor in international law and Head of Research at the Åland Islands Peace Institute. She has worked extensively on issues of minorities. Currently she leads the research project “Demilitarisation in an increasingly militarised world”. She is a member of the Research Council of the Åland Islands Peace Institute.
